Traceability

Our traceability system enables us to track back from the final pack, for example on a retailer’s shelf, to details of how and when we processed it, and back again to the original suppliers with specific batch numbers and dates.

The origin of all the fish and other ingredients we use in Morpol is recorded on arrival and this information is linked to the lot code on the final product. Traceable information includes the supplier, product specification and the date and time it arrived. The fish and other products are tracked through the entire process and into their final packaging, together with information on dates, times, destinations and customers, all linked with the final product lot code.

Our traceability system meets the specifications of the many certification schemes for which we qualify. These include International Food Standards (IFS) and British Retail Consortium (BRC).

Production

Fresh salmon are processed at Morpol’s dedicated plant in Ustka on the Baltic coast of Northern Poland. Our plant is purpose designed and unique to Morpol, as is the processing and smoking equipment. It is the largest and most technologically advanced salmon processing facility in the world. Scale brings benefits of efficiency that keep costs down and enable us to make best use of all by-products from processing.
