Product quality
We achieved our world-leading position because we care deeply about quality. Quality for Morpol begins with purchasing; seeking Superior Quality Atlantic salmon and the best available specimens for all other fish. Every stage of processing is carried out by our own highly skilled teams and our products are subject to strict quality control throughout.
When Morpol first entered the value added salmon products market we needed a commercial edge to gain a foothold. That edge was quality. At the time Poland was not a member of the European Union and Morpol products faced an import tariff. Even so, quality and value for money earned them space on the shelves of many retailers. In May 2004 Poland became part of the EU. Sales grew rapidly and continued to grow, gaining market share in expanding markets. The constant attention to quality and its continuous improvement, coupled with innovations to extend the product ranges, are fundamental to this growth.
The superior and reliable quality of Morpol products is built initially on best quality raw materials. We are even assessing farming protocols with the intention of producing fish optimised for smoking.
All stages of processing—from initial preparation of fillets through smoking, slicing, marinating and other treatments, to packaging and despatch—are carried out by our own highly skilled, permanently employed teams. These include a 50-strong team dedicated to Quality Control, with its own laboratory on site to check raw materials and assess organoleptic properties of the products at every production stage.
The majority of the processing equipment used by Morpol is designed by Morpol and manufactured exclusively for Morpol. Quality is a top priority in design, along with food safety, production efficiency and optimised ergonomics. Equipment is easy to open and clean, with no hidden surfaces, and produces consistent, high-quality products optimised to customer specifications and in attractive, user-friendly packaging that is convenient for retailers and consumers. Extensive and regular training ensures everyone is fully familiar with operating protocols.
